The supreme court of Kathmandu has ordered the Nepal Government to ensure free tests and treatments for COVID-19. On Monday, November 9, the cabinet meeting cleared and allowed all the government hospitals to provide free tests and treatments for patients with COVID-19.
Earlier, the government decided that people infected with the virus should take care and treat themselves at home. Now, the government has finally made its decision to not charge for tests and treatments.
Before the decision was made, the government had been giving a decent amount of facilities to private hospitals only. A few private labs were also provided for the treatment of each infected patient at a low price. The government is still unknown about services at private hospitals.
In the meantime, the government has made a board that involves secretaries of the Ministry of Health and Population, Foreign Affairs, and Finance. They will make preparations for buying and selling Covid-19 vaccines from the international market as soon as they are available.
